Rev. Dr. Rob Zahn will spend the morning at Zion Lutheran exploring where God may be showing up in places the church has often ignored, feared, or misunderstood. He will preach at both worship services, lead the adult forum, and host a lunchtime “Lunch and Learn” conversation with dialogue. Drawing from his book LSD to Galilee, Zahn will trace the relationship between the psychedelic counterculture, the Jesus Movement, contemporary Christian music, and the reshaping of American Christianity. Along the way, we may consider church decline and renewal, the spiritual longings revealed through music and popular culture, and how signs, stories, and cultural movements can help us recognize grace in unexpected places. The day will be less about romanticizing the 1960s than asking what that era can teach today’s church about incarnation, imagination, transformation, and faithful engagement with a changing culture.
